Hello all, just recently got my first smartphone (finally....  considering I'm a programmer / developer..)
Anyways, obviously Epic 4G, currently running 2.2 Froyo (was on 2.1 when I got it), Syndicate Frozen ROM, Vision Kernel.
Reasoning?  When I first got my Epic, as I'm sure everyone here knows- battery life was horrible.  Now, thanks to the ROM and Kernel, I have a quadrant score of 2086 (working on getting that up....), and battery drain between 2% and 4% per hour, with the ability to run at 1.4Ghz (not that I do, since that would not be healthy for my phone lol).
I've learned a great many things about the phone, and am here to help others learn about theirs.  If you read this, and have any questions, let me know.  I registered just to help others  Big Grin

The chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. DA HHGG

Absolutely.  I'd use Clockwork Mod 3: http://k0nane.info/rom/cwm3.zip Inside that zip file is a file labeled run.bat.
Steps: On your phone, go to settings > applications > development > USB debugging > Enable
Make sure you have the epic 4g drivers for your computer:
64-bit OS http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
32-bit OS http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
Plug your phone into your computer, allow the drivers to initialize / install.  Once it says device ready, simple run the batch file (run.bat).  That's it- just let it do it's thing!

As for the syndicate rom, you can read more about it here:

(sorry to link the another forum, but...  well they have the rom  Big Grin )

Thanks!  I appreciate it, and as soon as I brush up my java, I'll be working on writing some apps.  At which time- any requests (simple at first please) and testers would be appreciated!
