My update did the same thing.  Woke up about 30 minutes late since the alarm didn't go off.  I just disabled bluetooth, rebooted, and the volume went back to normal.

I got the EC05 update a day or so ago. The volume problem is still there. Now I also have an issue with the bluetooth not connecting to the Sync/navigation in my car. This shit is unbelievable.

thanks for the heads up on re-booting the phone to get the speaker to work right . We  really shouldn't have to go threw this BS with this phone. If it wasn"\'t for the slide out keyboard I think I would have switched to the EVO

Yeah, I feel your pain.  The thing is  . . .  once they fix this hellish update this phone will be great.  I just don't get how they can keep messing this up though.  One of the most horrible forms of customer service ever.

Same problem for me after the update. It took me a few days to realize that it wasn't something that I was doing. I really appreciate the post for a temporary resolution (resetting). Aggravating, but not enough to give up on the Epic.

I have the same problem and what I found out is:
The problem is that if you start playing games or do anything with apps that use Media volume control, then your phone will switch to media volume instead of other volumes.
It is a software problem and by no means does not “FRY YOUR PHONE”.
A simple phone restart does the trick but it definitely needs to be fixed by Samsung.

I know that this problem has been reported to Samsung and they promised to fix it in the next release.
Let’s hope this will happen soon.

Just so everyone knows I called sprint 800 number.  The customer service was no help at all and had no idea of any updates and/or its problems. She sent me to tech support who was equally worthless with no clue either. Made me take out battery and restart. Told me to bring it to a store for troubleshooting. What a joke. I explained that it is a software issue and not a hardware problem with my phone.

Thanks for the info on rebooting after disabling Bluetooth.  After 3 trips to the sprint store, 3 hard resets and a new speaker, turns out it is a software issue.  Major issues with using Motospeak and the Epic.  Lets hope they get this fixed in the next release.  Is there a place we can report these issues to Samsung?

I have this problem as well with one other thing.  When I restart my phone the battery meter will drop down to about 14% no matter how full it was before.  If I do not put it on the charger the phone dies within 90 minutes.  Very annoying but I usually wait to restart my phone before going to bed so it does not affect me that much.

I've had issues with the volume playing at a very low volume as through the phone receiver that you hold to your ear rather than the speaker phone. This occurs intermittenly after I unplug the audio cable to my car, disconnect from my BT Jawbone, or unplug my earbuds. I've noticed this only using Pandora but I don't think it's an app issue. I am able to correct the issue by closing everything and rebooting by powering down the phone. It's annoying, but it works.

I have not been able to alleviat the issue by  pausing or quiting Pandora before disconnecting the Epic 4G from the audio cable.

Many problems with Epic.  Do not buy one.  My experience with Android has not been good.  Bought a Hero, and after months of trials and tribulation, exchanged for another one.  Same problems.  Sprint replaced with an Instinct.  Nowhere near equivalent on the features, and it had problems.  Paid about $500 for an Epic.  Had numerous problems after the update. Slow, freezing, keyboard will not go away after sending text, volume control gets hosed easily, will go to one setting above mute for no reason.  With all things, Sprint says do a hard reset.  They have no idea, They are not supportive.  Stay away from Android unless you like talking to tech support and getting nowhere.

Has anyone heard anything about and fixes or another update to fix the bugs from the last update?
