I just got back from Sprint with a service ticket.  The official word from them is the OTA updates should begin in a few days.

I just got mine this morning.

The home screen is taking a little longer to load after being in the applications menu. Undecided I think I'll have to tinker around with it some. Will take some getting used to as far as the messaging screens go.

It was offered to my wife this morning. She has not installed it yet. I am still waiting.

Update: When I got home I installed on her phone. All went well.
(The app store layout has changed from the first Froyo version.)

For those that already got the update, did it come automatically or did you go into settings and "Update Firmware"

It popped up automatically. When I woke up, it told me that I would need to "restart and install" for android update with sprint id.

By the way, I discovered that all my ringtones were reset. At least after a reboot the screens started loading faster.

I got a notification from sprint around lunch time that an update was coming soon along with SprintID, but no update as of yet.

It had been popping up but my wife dismissed it multiple times. When I got home I wanted to install without waiting for the next pop up.

I went to Settings / About / System Updates / "Update Android". (instead of "Update Firmware"). It said it was already downloaded it and did I want to install it etc. etc.

To clarify... Doing the above only works IF it has already been sent to your phone! (After your turn comes up in their deploy.)

Note: The app store layout has changed since the first Froyo release.

FYI: Been waiting for my update notice for last few days, and then I activated my GPS to use an app and the update file came in almost immediately.  Works great, love the flash!  Anyway, if you have your GPS turned off for security/battery reasons, try turning it on for a few minutes and see if the update arrives.  Could be totally coincidental, but it worked for our other Epic that way too ...

I pressed install as I was going to bed. Woke up to a shiney new update. I heard the phone restart once, but I was asleep through most of it.

Any basic instructions for non-techies? Or is that it?

I got the update last night and so far the changed ringtones is the only issue I've discovered.

My ringtones were reset and my dialing buddies were gone - but easy enough to replace.  So far - everything else is fine on both my phone and my wife's.

One noted problem - when I used the camera it wouldn't close - locked up the phone - had to reboot.  I'll see if this continues and report back.
