It seemed to me we should have a thread covering Android 2.2 Froyo changes we find OTHER THAN than the major changes officially listed by Samsung and in the updates threads. I suggest bugs be listed in the bugs thread, NOT here (unless incidental to describing a change).

Here are my contributions...
1) Camcorder saves as .mp4 instead of .3gp
2) Camera/Camcorder have thumbnail of last photo/video as the button to the viewer
3) Browser favorites/history button now next to URL box instead of browser options.
4) Call log now includes both calls and text messages together.
5) Ability to uninstall from Applications menu (Settings / Edit)
6) Battery fully charged icon now in notification area. Unplug/Plug to reset. (I don't like it myself.) Screen saver covers the old fully charged pop up (I DO like that.)
7) When you go to add a shortcut or widget via the "Add to Home Screen" menu, the Widgets and Shortcuts lists are no longer split into sub-groups. You don't have to remember which list has the item you want.
8) GPS accuracy used to always just say 98 feet... period. The interesting thing I want to report is that it now varies quite a bit in a short time (which seems more realistic). It looks to me like as well as the accuracy going up, the reported accuracy is sampled at a higher rate or is no longer rounded somewhere? In any case... NICE! (BTW, so far I have seen it as low as 8 feet.)
9) Contacts / Groups Tab: Instead of picking a group, all groups are listed in sections with group headers.
10) The app store layout changed with the 2nd Froyo release on 3/24.

Great Thread Webguy!  The more established phones have forum threads like this that describe hidden gems found in updates.  Thanks for info on the new "thumbnail view" feature.  Even to this day, I don't know how to easily operate the camera/camcorder.  The thumbnail should help.  Hopefully, Sprint will get the bugs worked out of the Android 2.2.1 update, so I will receive mine and hopefully contribute to this thread!

Going to keep this at the top, and try to keep it positive and informative. Bugs and problems and troubles should be posted elsewhere.

like the addition of the ability in "phone options" to activate/deactivate the data network. Thanks for the list webguy Big Smile

The chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. DA HHGG

The "battery fully charged please unplug your phone" notification no longer stays on. I have not seen the notification since the update.

Interesting. I am curious trili7... Do you mean you don't get the pop up "Info" window since the upgrade?
1) I still do get the old pop up window: "Info: Battery fully charged. Unplug charger." It dismisses OK.
2) However, since the upgrade, I ALSO get the same message in the notifications area. It requires an unplug to dismiss. I just tested twice to confirm.

Before update, it would come on and stay on until i hit ok. Before the update, I could not charge over night because the notification would be on in the am and would have been on continuously for several hours. Now it is not on when i notice the phone fully charged, only the little blue light in the upper right corner. Can not say that i have even noticed the message since the update, leading me to believe that it only stays on briefly.

The dock finally has functionality I can use in my car. I have a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe. I have been using a USA Spec PA11-Hon 2y iPod/Aux adapter in my car for  awhile. Now if I connect the 3.5mm jack from the aux adapter to the dock and run power to the dock through the USB/micro USB cable and run the updated Desk Home app music comes out over my stereo speakers. It sounds great. If you go to settings/applications//development and check stay awake, the screen remains on while connected with power which allows you to see track info and and make selections. If you exit the Desk Home app the music then plays over the phone speaker which sounds understandably lousy. Also, if you are listening to music over the car stereo and you receive a phone call, the music pauses. You then answer the call and press speaker and you can have a hands free phone call. The voice on the other end comes over the phone speaker. It sounds tinny but at least you can understand the words. Maybe a future update will allow the voice to come over the stereo speakers as well.

All of this and the dock sits perfectly in the little cubby hole beneath my factory radio.

I checked, and if I don't dismiss it the screen saver covers it. I think it also eventually goes away? It does go away if you unplug the charger. At least we don't have to worry about it staying on the screen a long time. That's a positive change.

Also noticed new features in the Clock (used to be Alarm Clock) - now has timer and stopwatch functions, which is kind of nice.

4) Call log now includes both calls and text messages together.

this is so painfully stupid and annoying. the only filter options are:

- all logs
- missed calls
- dialed calls
- received calls
- sent messages
- received messages

WHO WOULD WANT THIS??? why isn't there an "all calls" option?? has anyone found a workaround to this absurdly ridiculous change?

Might I suggest trying Alarm Clock Plus from the Android Market. It looks to be by the same folks?? It is a souped up version with an incredible set of features.

Miss it?  I like the new one much better.  It's in the Clock app.  I apologize if you already knew this.  It just sounded like you thought it was gone.

Thanks steveopia, never used the clock, so i did not think to look there for the alarm. I still had the old alarm icon on my home screen and it just said "app not installed" after the update. I will try it out.
