Hello,

I just got a new epic(first one, the volume button stuck).  I have a question on the BACK button...

1.  When at your homepage and you slide to one of the other six pages, can you return to your homepage with the back button??  or do you have to use the home page or slide with your finger again.

2.The back button on this new phone seems to work inconsistently.  Works fine most of time but then sometimes locks up and doesn't work.   Anyone else having this problem??

Thanks for any help you can give me.....

You need to use the home button, or slide the screens to get back to the home screen. The back button does not work for that. i have no problem with the back button, except that it is very sensitive and if i am not careful where i hold the phone, it goes back where i did not want to go.

I concur, the back button responds the same way for my device when using TouchWiz and LauncherPro.  The back button performs differently depending on which application is being used, in some cases it doesn't have a assigned function and could explain the "seems to work inconsistently" comment.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.  What I am noticing is when I hit the back button, let's say to return to a web page, on occasion it won't do anything.  I then have to hit it again or maybe two more times to get it to respond.  Is that "normal", seems like every other button works fine....thanks.

Based on the information you have provided consider this...

When you are on the mobile web there is a considerable delay in the response/load time for a website to display, especially if you aren't using 4G. Unlike using a pc with a high speed connection you have to be more patient.  Next time try to locate the "loading bar" and wait until it is complete.

If you can't find the loading status bar in your browser, just press the back button ONCE and wait approximately 20-30 seconds and you should notice that the intended action happens.

Thanks, I am noting a delay after the page is loaded..... even when navigating through messaging and contacts, have to hit back button a couple times sometimes to get it to work.

In that case, perhaps you will have to get the device check out by a service technician because it should respond instantly with the blazing fast processor and Android (Linux) operating system.

I find that when I am deliberate and precise when pressing buttons that there is no lag or finicky behavior.

Thanks for the info.  The first phone I had the "soft keys" worked great, but the volume button stuck after about a week.  This phone, the " soft keys" have a completely different feel and especially the back button....have to hit a couple times to get it to register, quite ofter. thanks again for your help.
