I'm sure there's already a post for this and I just missed it, so bare me please.

There are some apps that are on my Froyo Epic when I bought it that I will likely never use. (Ie. Asphalt)  How woul I go about ridding my phone of these pesky apps? I have the Super Task Killer app and several of these factory apps just pop up in there as running all the time.  Logic would tell me that my phone would operate slightly faster without the dead weight apps dragging it down. Any ideas?

Thanx

Pre installed apps can not be removed unless you root your phone. Don't know what you mean by super task killer, but task killers are not good for performance.
Apps that you do not use can be turned off and taken off the home screen, but can not be removed, just ignored.

The chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. DA HHGG

Well that's just silly. I think we may have finally found a flaw with the android golden child.  That's like buying a new laptop and not being able to uninstall all the superfluous software they put on it. Oh well. I suppose no phone is perfect. I know I could root the phone, but you shouldn't have to for something as simple as this.

Thanx anyway

I believe it is not inherent in the android system, rather that Sprint and/or Samsung have made the decision to not allow the stock apps to be uninstalled. Many refer to it as "bloat ware", and i agree, its just stupid. Eyes Rolling

Ah, well if that's the case, then I apologize to the android community.

Thanx

Those apps wont affect your battery or performance, task killers label apps as "running" which is an incorrect term, its just data saved in memory, and if that memory is needed the android system will manage it itself

I asked the lady at my local sprint store why they do that, of couse she doesnt know, but did say they have countless people come in every month that un-install the wrong files/aps/operating system files on their phones. Of course they cant replace them, because it was their negligence that broke it in the first place.

I think samsung does this so people dont f*Ck their phones up by deleting wrong operating system utilities. Atleast thats what I think...

But as far as the stock racing game, NASCAR, and so on... I really dont think anyone would hurt their phones by clearing out these pointless aps. (sorry if your a nascar fan)

Oh well.... Whatever works.
