I stumbled upon another way to search for contacts using the alphabet located on the right edge of the Contacts (address book).  Simply drag your finger down the alphabet until you located the first letter of the name you are trying to locate, then without lifting your finger drag the desired letter to the left to further narrow down your results by selecting the second letter of the desired name.  See the attached screenshot for the expected results.

Thanks for that one. I didn't get the second letter until you explained. There are so many little functions that seem to be hidden within the phone and not addressed in the users guide.

No problem at all, I found the same to be true about the user guide, which is why this forum is invluable for Epic Users.

I'll try to keep the tips coming as I discover what else this amazing device can do.

Thanks for this tip!!  I found it super annoying and always touch the wrong letter when I would tap it.  BUT THIS WORKS PERFECT!

I have been using a free app called Gesture Search. I love it. I have the app on my home screen. Just open it up, use your finger to type a letter, and all the contacts and apps that start with that letter are displayed. Then right on top of the list, gesture a second letter, etc, then it narrows the search. It also displays most often accessed contacts first I think.

TERRIFIC!  Thanks a lot.  I use Contacts at least 5-10 times a day - this will make it much easier.

Awesome thanks!  I use to hate the letters on the right, like others, I always hit the wrong one.  Plus once I got there, still have to scroll to get to the one that I really wanted.  THat second letter helps a lot.
