New and looking for some nerd love to trick my phone

Hey all,

Been creeping this forum and decided to finally register and post. I'm the happy owner of a new Samsung Epic 4G and I desperately want some help tricking it out.

My phone has three keyboards-Swype, Android and Samsung. I can't get autocorrect to work in Android or Samsung keyboard. Downloaded Gingerbread keyboard app and hate it. any suggestions?

I've heard a lot about downloading a new home launcher. Is this the way to go? LauncherPro? GoLauncher? Paid vs free?

lastly, the lock screen sucks. The date at the top and the swype up to unlock the phone. I want to have a new lock screen or some way to change the orientation. Any apps to suggest?

I have tried several keyboards, but I perfer using swype. Sure it takes some getting used to but as with anything that has a learning curve, the more you use it the better you become. Swype actually improves it's "guessing" as you start to add new words to your swype dictionary (which is done automatically).

Also, LauncherPro is awesome on this phone with all the customizations and functionality. In fact, you don't have the get the paid version, to realize the obvious benefits. Note, if you have froyo update you may need to download the Home Switcher (froyo) app in order to use.

There are threads with recommended apps, but in the meantime check out Handcent SMS for text messaging customizations. ThinkFree Office allows you to view/edit MS word, excel and powerpoint files. Tubemate used to download YouTube videos, etc. RemoteDroid allows users to connect to wifi devices (i.e. laptops) and use Epic as remote.

I don't use special screen locks, so good luck finding a solution with that.

I'm using WidgetLocker for lockscreen.  The stock one was crap.  Widget locker lets you do whatever you want on the lockscreen.  On mine, I've got a clock, Missed It widget, unlocker, and also locks that take me straight to either camera or music player.
