The screen is good, the phone is very fast. I have not experienced lag as of yet. Or perhaps omniaHD has been lagging too much lol.

The text stayed exactly the same width no matter what the zoom level, which would be terrible since that's one of my favorite features of Android.

Hmmm I'm in the same scenario. I have OmniaHD and I'm waiting for the Epic 4G to come to Europe. What are you first expresion? It's worth upgrading:)?
