Can someone comment on Samsung's reputation when it comes to support?  I've never owned a Samsung phone before.  I'm doing my research and I'm seeing numerous reports that once Samsung releases a product the company abandons its owners and moves on to future projects.  Is there any truth to this?  I'm concerned about being locked into 2.1 without having to root the Epic 4G and going through the hassles.
TIA.

I think that the android will provide updates to the software and you won't be stuck with 2.1. http://www.samsungepicforum.com/samsung-galaxy-s-romfirmware-dev-discussion/launch-with-android-2-1-or-2-2/msg288/?boardseen#new

But like they said in that thread^^^the UI will need to be updated too and thats on samsung (we can dump the UI and upgrade to the 2.2)

Samsung released Galaxy A (which must be the model between Galaxy Portal and Epic 4G) in Korea. I've just read a news article in which Samsung assured its customers about the upgrade to 2.2 Android system when it's available. Galaxy A runs 2.1 as default right now. I think they are trying to lose the "REPUTATION" of not paying much attention software-aspect after selling the handsets. Epic 4G is a strategicly important product just like Omnia II and has the possibility of being upgraded unlike Jet. If they are upgrading Galaxy A, why won't they do that for Epic 4G? Our only worry is, 'will they do it quick enough?'

Cheers

I just wanted to bump this because I just read that the Behold is frozen at 1.6.  This freeze is in spite of Samsung telling it's purchasers that it would receive an update.  Latest word is that even the G1 is going to get 2.1 even if it requires a wipe.  Thoughts on Samsung before I plunk down my dollars?

Rumor has it Samsung isn't very good with this kind of stuff. They have a reputation for not making very good phones and I'm not really sure of customer support.
But, they have really been bucking up with there merchandise their TV's have gotten a-lot better and so I feel safe to assume that this phone will be good.

I would wait to see after it comes out, we can only tell then how sturdy the phone is once we get our hands on it.
