I bought a rubberized case from the Sprint store and ordered some screen protectors from Amazon. I am almost 100% sure I will use the screen protectors, but I just hate the bulky look the case gives the phone. It makes me feel like it's 1999 and I'm using some crappy Nextel walkie talkie. But I absolutely love the look of the epic out of the case.

How many of you go without a case? Is your epic all scratched up yet or is it holding up ok?

I have had my phone for 3 months no case, looks like new.  The glass is pretty tough but I do take care to keep it seperate from keys.  Other than that I am pretty rough with it.  I wish it had a simple sleeve like the instinct.

my thoughts exactly. The protector frame is difficult to remove if you want to switch batteries, does not slide easily in and out of pockets, but seems to protect against impact. I like the phone without the protector, but i am careful. no problems without a screen protector. It seems pretty resistant to dings and scratches, though again, i am careful with the phone.

The chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. DA HHGG

I have several batteries and don't use a case because of how much of it pain switching is.  However, I did get a clear body glove full phone protector.  It looks like a screen protector that covers front, back, and sides.  It seems to do a good job of protecting from scratches.

I bought the clear snap-on case from the Sprint store just because I tend to have butter fingers from time to time and yes, its been dropped twice and protected the phone perfectly.  While it is not necessary if you are careful with it ... it certainly cannot hurt.  Just as info, here is the case I use:

Hope that helps.

If I'm gonna bulk up and weigh down this device, it will only be when there is an otterbox case for it

Oh yeah, totally agree -- but that case I listed was as close as I could get for the moment ... no pun intended.

One thing I notice is that when I do not have the protective case on the phone, i frequently accidentally touch the screen and end up on a different screen. The case seems to help prevent accidentally touching the screen.

I tried the pouch from samsung, you know the ugly reversible one.  Too small for the epic.  You can force it but it will turn the phone on and off or change the volume when pulling it in or out.

I bought a case, and then bought the Invisible Shield- best thing ever for your phone.  The case makes the phone a bit bulky for me, but I can still use it with the shield on.  The Invisible Shield is definitely worth the money since it comes with a lifetime warranty- as long as you have the same phone you can get a new one.
