Does anyone know if this dock is pretty good or not? I was wondering also if I get this dock, will I have to remove the rubberized cover I bought from sprint just to dock my epic or can I leave the cover on, Thanks for your help.

I have the dock for mine, but do not have a cover on it.  I like it because if it is dark, I know just to slide it in and it will connect.  So need to fumble around with the plug to see if you are plugging in the right way.

I have the dock also. I like it, but it does not work with the hard cover on the phone. it works well for charging, has a good angle for viewing, and can be used with the slide out qwerty. The release note included states that the audio port will allow connection of a 3.5 mm speaker system, stereo headset, or ability to connect to a home stereo system, after 2.2 is installed on the phone. Can not data sync through the dock. Only drawback i see is that the volume control is under the phone so you have to use the qwerty function keys to adjust the volume or take it out of the dock.

The dock is nice, as stated above. However, I've had a problem with it resting on the volume "down" button so I added a felt pad to lift it off that.

There is no room for any substantial covering on the phone.

Not sure it's worth $40 .. but at the moment, it appears the only one is made by Samsung and sold by Sprint.

I have the dock with the hard case, and it is a pain to always remove the case to use the dock. I stopped using it b/c the dock screen remained on while the phone was docked, and I was concerned about burn-in. It'd be nice if samsung would update the dock app to do something to prevent burn-in.

I turn off the screen when it is in the dock. I do not have a hard cover as i have an issue with the power supply that requires removing the battery a couple of times a day for restart. I was afraid that prying off the hard case would make the keyboard looser than it already is. I like the dock, very handy.

I received the dock as a Christmas present.  It's quite nice with the free "Desk Home" software installed.  But there are a couple of questions that perhaps someone can answer for me..

1.  If you have the dock with the Desk Home software, does your "Music" program start up when you remove your Epic from the dock?  Mine does, every time.  I have no music on the phone but the program starts anyway and must be closed using the task manager.

2.  Is there a way to stop the Epic from saying "Battery fully Charged..Unplug Charger."?  This useless Info box appears while the phone is in the charger and dims/covers up the Desk Home screen.  The Blue Light indicates when the phone is fully charged.  To have this announcement appear on the screen and stay there is awfully annoying.

Not sure about the music app starting with removal from dock.
There is no way to get rid of the "fully charged" notification (rooting might do it). Hopefully this will go away when Froyo is updated.

Thanks for the feedback Trili7.  After finding so many "horror" stories in various forums about Screen Burn-In from the Full Battery notification, I'm very careful not to leave my phone in the Dock overnight.

The Music application starting by itself when removing the Epic from the dock is really weird.  I don't even have any music on the phone, yet this app starts up and runs in the background every time, without fail, within 5 seconds of dock disconnection.  I'm sure it's related to the "Samsung Home" dock display application.  What's also strange is that there's no Developer info listed in the Market for this application.  I'd like to speak to the Samsung support department responsible for the Samsung Home app, but there's no way to find them.  It's probably some contractor (who doesn't want to be bothered) that's authorized to use the Samsung name.

Allen, i do not seem to have the app that you mentioned "samsung Home" . I now change the battery in the evening so that the "fully charged" display is not on during the night. I do not seem to have a problem with my spare battery overcharging. I do not use the dock at night. Hope it gets fixed with froyo.

I uninstalled the "Samsung Home" app that was designed for the Epic by Samsung because it had almost no usable features other than being a decent, large clock while the Epic is docked.  I replaced it with an application from the Market called "bedside".   It has good reviews and works almost perfectly as a clock and alarm (if needed) when the Epic is sitting horizontal in the dock.

BTW..I found out that the MUSIC application starts up when my phone is removed from the charging dock, even when there is no docking application installed, like Samsung Home, or Bedside.  I'll do some web searches and see if any other Epics have this application automatically start when the phone is removed from the desk dock.

It works great, but my Epic is all scratched up from fumbling in the dark; after answering a call and placing it back on the dock.   It's scratches at the top if it doesn't get placed just right into the dock- they thought I dropped it, but it was from the dock station......
